Westbrook, CT -- Members of AFSCME Local 1303-325, the Westbrook Town Hall Employees Union, donated $1,000 to the town’s Social Services Department to support the emergency fuel assistance program.

“We feel blessed to work for a great town that cares about its residents,” said Local 1303-325 President Rich Annino, who serves as Westbrook’s Recreation Coordinator. “State budget cuts have hurt citizens in every city and town by targeting important programs such as fuel assistance. We hope our donation will strengthen the safety net for Westbrook residents in need during the cold winter months ahead.”

Union members presented the donation to Social Services Coordinator Elizabeth Carpenter  during a brief ceremony at Town Hall that included First Selectman Noel Bishop.

“I’m impressed with AFSCME union members for donating so generously to our fuel bank, particularly during the holiday season,” said First Selectman Noel Bishop. “It means a lot to our residents. It’s an asset to our town to have the union be so helpful.”
