JOB DESCRIPTION
PURPOSE:
This position is responsible for coordinating the services provided by Council 4 in day-to-day operations. To supervise and interact with staff at all levels and across departments. Act as an agent of the Council under the direction of the Executive Director in accordance with the mission and objectives of the Council.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Performs tasks independently; works under the limited supervision of the Executive Director.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Has lead responsibility over staff as assigned.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Provide Leadership support to the Executive Director and Leadership Team.
- Supervise Staff/Departments as assigned to include training, assignments and discipline.
- Analyze logistics processes and operations, identify opportunities for improvement, and help develop policies and procedures.
- Act as an advisor to the Executive Director as part of the Leadership team.
- Assist the Executive Director in facilitating effective decision-making.
- Participate in regular meetings with the Executive Director to discuss potential staffing issues.
- Assess inquiries directed to the Executive Director, determine the proper course of action and delegate to the appropriate individual to manage.
- Ensure staff issues are addressed properly, efficiently and judiciously, and keep track of progress until resolved.
- Oversee budget and membership data/systems.
- Manage communications and information flow.
- Complete weekly and monthly reports to Leadership and membership as assigned.
- Supports Council functions according to circumstances and needs.
- Participate in strategic initiatives by leading them and reporting results back to the Executive Director.
- May act as a representative of the Executive Director.
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Problem solver, team player and results driven.
- Ability to work in a high stress environment.
- Higher Education degree(s) preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in Leadership/Management/Labor Relations.
- Experience managing teams/departments.
- Experience in project planning and operational support for an organization.
- Financial, Communications, Political and Legislative, and Human Resources background needed.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required as well as a demonstrated ability to think creatively and speak publicly.
- The Chief of Staff must be a creative and results-driven thinker, an excellent problem solver and possess interpersonal skills to effectively manage staff.
- Ability to supervise daily operations and oversee projects.
- Ability to work strategically and collaboratively with State and Municipal labor organizations.
ADA REQUIREMENTS:
A Valid driver’s license is required.
