Candidates Endorsed for Feb. 26 Special Elections

The Council 4 Delegate Assembly has endorsed the following pro-union candidates for the upcoming special legislative elections on Feb. 26:

Joshua Balter, State Representative, 100th District (East Haven)
Anthony Nolan*, State Representative, 39th District (New London)
Saud Anwar, State Senator, 3rd District (East Hartford, South Windsor...)
Derek Slap, State Senator, 5th District (West Hartford, Bloomfield, Farmington...)
Rick Lopes, State Senator, 6th District (New Britain, Berlin...)
(*Anthony Nolan is a member of AFSCME Local 724, the New London Police Union.)

Candidates seeking our endorsement filled out a questionnaire and participated in an interview with rank-and-file members on our district PEOPLE Committees. Their recommendations for endorsement were then voted on by the Council 4 Delegate Assembly at a special meeting held Feb. 11 in New Britain.

Collectively, these five endorsed candidates demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting our bargaining rights against continued attacks by extemist anti-worker forces.

If you'd like to volunteer to help on any of these races, please contact Brian Anderson at [email protected] or Zak Leavy at [email protected].

Polls are open Feb. 26 from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the 5 special election districts.
