Please join us on Friday, August 20 for an outdoor screening of Exterminate All The Brutes: Parts 3 & 4, hosted by the Council 4 Civil Rights Committee. This docuseries examines Europe’s dark history in Africa and the origins of genocide.

Council 4 Treasurers' Workshop (Zoom)

Subject matter will include an overview and application of the AFSCME Financial Standards Code. All signatories on Local Union accounts are encouraged to attend. We also welcome, and suggest attendance of Local Trustees.

Council 4 Executive Director Jody Barr on Vaccine Mandates

Behind our union’s newly christened Cameron Wilson Children’s Library – a place for members’ children to sit and read a labor story or play games while their parents attend to union business at Council 4 – is a courageous child and his equally determined parents.

At the center of this story is 5-year-old Cameron Wilson, the son of  Jessica Wilson of Local 269 (P2 State Human & Social Services) and her husband Brendan. In 2017, doctors diagnosed Cameron with leukemia after he had just turned 2 and on the same day of his mom’s birthday.

Council 4 PEOPLE Committee Meeting

The Council 4 Joint PEOPLE Committee will meet on Tuesday, July 27 at 6:00 p.m. The committee will interview and consider candidates for endorsement – including potential primary endorsements.

These interviews will be conducted via ZOOM.

Civil Rights Committee Movie Night

Please join us on Friday, August 6 for an outdoor screening of Judas and the Black Messiah, hosted by the Council 4 Civil Rights Committee. This 2021 American biographical drama film is about the betrayal of Fred Hampton (played by Daniel Kaluuya), chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party in late-1960s Chicago, by William O'Neal (played by Lakeith Stanfield), an FBI informant.

The movie will start at dusk, so plan to arrive 7:00 p.m.

Please join us on Friday, July 23 for an outdoor screening of Exterminate All The Brutes: Parts 1&2, hosted by the Council 4 Civil Rights Committee. This docuseries examines Europe’s dark history in Africa and the origins of genocide.

The movie will start at dusk, so plan to arrive around 8 p.m.
