C4 Votes 2020

Union Information and Resources for the 2020 Election

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2020. The stakes are higher than ever for AFSCME union members in Connecticut as we all continue to grapple with the impact of COVID-19.

Corporate conservative efforts to eliminate our collective bargaining rights -- state, municipal and private sector – have become all too common in recent legislative sessions.

That’s why we say, "Remember in November."

We need to elect candidates who support workers’ rights; who believe in the freedom to bargain for good pay, benefits and a real voice on the job; who stand up for quality public services; and who advocate for a fair tax system to support the services our members provide.

Council 4 has a member-driven endorsement process. Candidates seeking our union endorsement must fill out a candidate questionnaire and participate in an interview with our regional PEOPLE Committees, which are made up of members that represent the diverse cross-section of our union. Our statewide PEOPLE Committee then puts together a list of candidates to recommend for endorsement. The Council 4 Delegate Assembly concludees the process by voting to accept or reject any candidate recommendations.

Council 4 members take their responsibilities very seriously when interviewing and vetting candidates seeking our endorsement. We take pride and stand by our endorsements because they are based on who will best represent the interests of our members, and protect the services we provide, regardless of political party.
