We are AFSCME Local 3429

AFSCME Local 3429 represents 400 dedicated paraprofessionals and related educational personnel throughout New Haven schools. We have many different job titles, including Head Start leads, assistant teachers, special-education aides, parent liaisons and outreach workers

We are affiliated with AFSCME Council 4,  which represents 30,000 workers across Connecticut, including more than 1,000 public school papraprofessionals; and AFSCME International in Washington,  DC., which represents 1.2 million workers nationwide.

Local 3429 members are dedicated individuals who are commited to providing quality services to New Haven students and families. Our work matters because it means something to make a community better. We seek dignity, respect and security at the bargaining table. Our union gives us a voice to improve working conditions and public education in New Haven. 

AFSCME Local 3429 membership meetings take place on the first Wednesday of the month at 4:00 pm at Career High School, 140 Legion Avenue in New Haven.  Members in good standing are welcome to attend,  participate and get involved with our union!
