South Windsor School Custodians Help Residents in Need

The members of Local 1303-029 of Council 4 AFSCME, representing South Windsor school custodians and maintainers, donated $250 to the South Windsor Food & Fuel Bank.

“The Department of Community Services does an amazing job serving our townspeople,” said Local 1303-029 President Bob Smith, the head custodian at Orchard Hill School. “We are fortunate to be able to give back and to support a program that helps South Windsor residents get through tough times.”

The Department of Human Services administers a variety of programs to help residents in need, including assistance with fuel and food – a need that spikes during cold weather and holidays.

“Every year, AFSCME Local 1303-029 members contribute to our efforts to help South Windsor residents cope with the rising cost of food and fuel,” said Andrea Cofrancesco, South Windsor's Director of Human Services. “We thank the custodians and maintainers’ union for stepping up to assist our neighbors in need.”

AFSCME Local 1303-029 represents nearly 40 custodial and maintenance employees in the South Windsor schools.
