South Windsor, CT -- The members of AFSCME Local 1303-029, representing South Windsor school custodians and maintainers, donated $500 to the South Windsor Food & Fuel Bank.“We’re proud to serve South Windsor’s schools,” said Local 1303-029 President Bob Smith. “We also recognize it’s important to help families in our own community who are having a difficult time meeting their basic needs. We are fortunate to be able to support the great work being done by the Department of Human Services on behalf of South Windsor townspeople.”

The South Windsor Department of Human Services on Nevers Road administers a variety of programs to help residents in need, including assistance with fuel and food – a need that spikes during cold weather and holidays.

“We deeply appreciate the AFSCME school custodians union for stepping up with this generous contribution,” said Andrea Cofrancesco, Director of Adult and Senior Services for South Windsor. “Their donation will help town residents who are struggling financially to cope with home heating costs.”

AFSCME Local 1303-029 represents 40 custodial and maintenance employees in the South Windsor schools, and is affiliated with Council 4 AFSCME.
