Council 4 Executive Director Jody Barr issued the following statement to Council 4 Local Presidents, Executive Board and Delegates to share with all our members:

We recognize that this is a challenging time for everyone.

I would like to thank each of you for your hard work, dedication and flexibility during this pandemic. As you know there is no play book for handling these situations.

Starting Tuesday, March 17, 2020, Council 4 will be closed to the public and members until May 30, 2020

Our staff will work remotely and will continue to service our members. Please continue to contact your Council 4 representatives and local leadership with your questions and concerns.

All events scheduled for our union hall through May 30, 2020 are cancelled. This includes the Council 4 Convention/Executive Board Election scheduled for April 18, 2020. We will reschedule the election and other events such as our Saturday Study Hall trainings, as soon as is reasonably possible. We also ask that you refrain from holding local union meetings to ensure the safety of your members.

Please check our special Coronovarius Resource page for Council 4 members for news and info.

We also have a special Coronavirus Resource Center on the site at bit.ly/C4covid19. And be sure to follow us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/council4/) and Twitter (twitter.com/AFSCMECT4) for real-time union news and updates.

Finally,  If you are a Council 4 local union member and have a question regarding the pandemic and associated state/municipal/private sector closures, you can submit it to [email protected].

Thanks for all you do. Please be safe.
