Helping the Homeless

May 16, 2017 -- Council 4 is helping the cause of advocates for the homeless by donating $3,500 to Christian Community Action in New Haven.

The donation from our Council 4 Women's Committee will support CCA’s Stepping Stone Transitional Housing Program, which accommodates families who are homeless or at risk of losing their homes.

Marybeth Hill of AFSCME Local 2663 and Marsha Tulloch of AFSCME Local 269, co-chairs of Council 4’s Women’s Committee, presented the check to CCA Executive Director, the Rev. Director Bonita Grubbs.

The Council 4 Women’s Committee sponsored a silent auction during the union’s business convention at the Omni Hotel in April. In addition to bidding on gift baskets, union members also contributed individually to help raise funds for CCA.

“We are grateful to AFSCME union members for their kind support and warm embrace of our mission,” Grubbs said. “This contribution will help us keep families together in these difficult economic times.”
