About Us (Council 4)

Connecticut's communities never rest. Our neighborhoods demand safety. That’s why people who work in law enforcement and public safety never stop. This isn’t just a job. It’s a calling. Your work matters because it means something to make a community better.

AFSCME Council 4 represents nearly 30,000 public sector workers, including more than 2,000 police officers across the state, from our largest cities to our smallest towns and everything in between. Council 4 also represents nearly 5,000 Correctional Employees who undertake the responsibility of protecting the public from the state’s most violent and dangerous citizens, every day on the job. Additionally, Council 4 represents nearly 100 State Marshals, who serve to enforce the orders and directives of Connecticut's courts.

Our objective is to protect your rights and freedoms when it comes to bargaining for better wages, benefits, and working conditions.
