The Triangle Fire Still Burns Today

March 25, 2011: Today, the 100-year anniversary of the horrific Triangle Shirtwaist fire in which 146 young, mostly immigrant women, were killed, comes at a key moment for our nation.

The same issues highlighted by the disaster—job safety, the right to collectively bargain, the treatment of immigrant workers—are very much with us today.

A special AFL-CIO Now blog feature highlights several people who talk about how each of those issues resonates today. Read it here.

We hope you will read the post
and then share this special feature on the Triangle fire with your friends, family and co-workers as a way to recognize America’s workers, past and present, who have sacrificed and continue to sacrifice so much to improve the lives of all workers.
