Defeat the Anti-Working Family Budget

Republican lawmakers — with the help of a few Democrats — on September 16 passed a state budget that attacks collective bargaining, starves our cities and towns, slams the working poor and even brings Rowland-style corruption back to the fore by getting rid of clean elections.

From silencing union members' voices to eliminating cost of living increases for retirees, the two-year fiscal blueprint represents an affront to the values of our state's labor movement.

It's a great gift to corporations and wealthy, but that's about it.

To add insult to injury, the scheme is not even balanced; according to the legislature's non-partisan fiscal office, it creates $6 billion in deficits over the next five years.

The governor has since publicly declared his intent to veto this anti-worker budget, but faces a pressure campaign financed by anti-union special interests to sign it into law.

That's why it’s important for him to hear from all of us now.

Call Governor Malloy at (860) 566-4840 and urge him to veto the GOP budget. Or, click here to email him.

And if you can, please join us in a rally to protest the budget document on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017 at noon at the State Capitol in Hartford.

We need to stop this. Otherwise, we risk a budget balanced on the backs of working people and that decimates Connecticut’s qualify of life, shattering hopes and dreams for generations to come.
