On May 21, the State Senate voted 21-14 to approve SB 913, the bill that allows municipalities and boards of education the option of joining the state health insurance plan at cost.
The House of Representatives must take up the bill next.
Commenting on the Senate vote, Council 4 Executive Director Sal Luciano said:
“We applaud the Senate for approving a landmark measure that will give cities and towns the option of enrolling their employees into a low-cost, quality health insurance plan. We hope the House of Representatives will follow suit and pass this legislation.”
